His research interests include the practice of self-study and action research, science teacher education, and the nature of science In this response to Bullough and Pinnegars "Guidelines for Quality in Autobiographical Forms of Self-Study," the author argues that in addition to criteria for the quality of research, researchers need to have ways to demonstrate its validity because of the moral and political aspects of educational research. The argument is based in part on the existential nature of self-study. The article concludes with some suggestions for increasing the validity of self-study.
